Greeter's Ministry

Lead Greeter: Sister Elvie Pagsaligan

Ushering is a ministry, like other ministries of the church.

The ushers are the "face" of the church, the first ones that people see when they arrive.

The primary duty of the usher is to greet the people coming for the worship service and let them feel they are welcome. The ushers are there to assist the worshipers in any way they need help. The users will act as doorkeepers, greeting each peson with a smile, shaking hands, and giving out bulletins, church programs, flyers and the like. They are also availabe to answer visitor's questions and extend extra help to anyone who needs assistance.

Church ushers should be alert in case of an emergency. The ushers will take the lead in getting people to safety in an orderly manner.

Qualities of an usher are:

  • Friendly
  • Honest
  • Willingness to serve for the glory of God.

It is a very honorable function of the church which requires punctuality, cordiality, and integrity.

Among other duties of the ushering ministry which may vary from church to church are the following:

1. Responsible to take up the church offering and make sure it is put in the proper place.

2. In some churches, ushers also help with the Lord's Table.

3. Ushers stand ready to assist anyone in the congregation who might need help, to aid latecomers in finding a seat, and to inform those in the sanctuary of any urgent matters.

Some churches appoint an usher or two to monitor the facilty, including the parking lot, to prevent vandalism, theft, or other wrongdoing.
